Christine Lee Silawan, a 16-year-old high school student and church collector, was found dead in a vacant lot in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. Her body was discovered beyond recognition–half of her face was skinned to the skull and her body had multiple stab wounds. She was also naked from the waist down and possibly raped.

Cristine Lee Silawan was 16 years old at the time of her brutal murder. On March 11, 2019, Silwan was found dead in a vacant lot in Lapu-Lapu City.
Silawan was a high school student who also served as a Church collector. She was a native of Cebu, Philippines.
Before her murder, it was reported that 16-year-old student Christine Lee Silawan’s unidentified boyfriend supposedly used a fake Facebook account to lure her into meeting him. Investigators discovered that the suspect had posed as another man on Facebook, trying to “court” her. On March 11, 2019, Silawan was found dead in a vacant lot in Lapu-Lapu City with multiple stab wounds and her face was mutilated.
An autopsy also revealed that her tongue, trachea, esophagus, parts of her neck, and her right ear were missing.[
The CCTV footage had provided a glimpse of Silawan walking with a male figure. As a result, the police have suspected that there is the involvement of at least three-person in her murder.

The forensic team also revealed that the caustic materials were used to destroy half of her face. Her face was burnt with acid that also touched her forehead, neck, and, eyes. The ligature marks on her neck also showed that she was choked using a 1-centimeter-long rope.

Cristine Lee Silawan Killer Is Set Lose: Case Updates
On the 16th of March 2011, a man named Jonas Martel Bue was arrested on suspicion of Cristine Lee Silawan. However, the man from Barangay Maribago denied any role in the murder of the 16-year-old.
Another claimed suspect, Renato Llanes, was arrested after making an “extrajudicial confession”. However, he pleaded not guilty to the murder charges. Llane claims that the murder was inspired by the infamous momo challenge.
On May 24, 2020, Renato Llanes killed himself by hanging. His death has not brought true justice for Silawan instead it extinguished his criminal liabilities.
The prosecution had resolved that Llanes was responsible for the murder and the case was closed with his suicide.
