What Happened To Norma Woodruff?

In October of 2005, the residents of Royse City, Texas, witnessed a terrifying murder when Dennis and Norma Woodruff were found murdered inside their home.
Although the crime initially looked like a robbery, the police soon determined that the person responsible knew the victims personally.

Norma Woodruff was murdered by her son Brandon Dale Woodruff in October 2005.

A docuseries about a double killing involving Norma and her partner near Royse City 13 years ago had a work-in-progress premiere in Dallas last week.

Norma was shot up to five times, while her spouse Dennis was shot once and then slashed nine times. Dennis did not put up a struggle before he was murdered, according to testimony given during the trial.

Authorities claimed that when a close relative was called to check on the Woodruffs, the house was discovered to be locked and that nothing of value had been removed from the house except the couple’s wallets.

The Woodruffs were in the process of switching from their Heath, Rockwall County house to their Royse City, Hunt County home when they were murdered according to the source.

On the night of October 16, 2005, Dennis and Norma’s daughter, Charla, called her parents but got no response. She immediately informed her extended family, who were also unable to get across to the couple.

Interestingly, the police conducted a welfare check the following day but decided not to force their way into the house. Thus, the bodies were discovered only after Charla’s aunt, Todd Williams, broke into the residence.

Who Killed Dennis and Norma Woodruff? Brandon Conviction: Is He Guilty Or Innocent?

The initial investigation into Dennis and Norma’s murders was relatively slow as the police had almost no leads to work on.
The crime scene did not provide a lot of evidence, and even though the police tried creating a list of suspects after sitting through hundreds of interviews, most were ruled out after further investigation.
Interestingly, through their investigation, law enforcement officials learned that Dennis and Norma’s son, Brandon, was the last person to see them alive. However, when questioned, Brandon insisted that he had nothing to do with the murder.
Moreover, he even stated that he shared a pizza with his parents on the night of the murder before leaving for his university, which was in Abilene.
However, the police soon began doubting Brandon’s statement as one of his friends, Robert Martinez, mentioned that although Brandon was supposed to pick him up on the night of the murder, he never turned up on time.
Besides, Robert also stated that once he did come across Brandon, the latter was not wearing a shirt or shoes, which was quite unusual in itself.
Additionally, detectives were also able to find evidence that made them believe that Brandon was lying about his whereabouts on the night of October 16.
Thus, confident of their investigation, the police arrested Brandon and found out that he was in possession of his parents’ debit card.

Brandon Woodruff was eventually found guilty of the murder of his parents Norma Woodruff and Dennis Woodruff.

Actually, the most significant piece of information presented itself in 2008, when Norma’s sister, Linda Matthews, found an old dagger among the family’s possessions. The police speculated that the blade might have been the one used in the murder and immediately sent it in for testing. Once the results came back, authorities were surprised to discover that a skull at the base of the dagger contained blood which was a perfect match to Dennis Woodruff’s DNA. This evidence went a long way toward Brandon’s ultimate conviction as he was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole in 2009.

Because the prosecution did not pursue the death sentence, Woodruff was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release. After closing remarks, the jury in the 354th District Court reached the verdict after around five hours of debate.

Following the announcement of the judge’s verdict, Charla Woodruff, the defendant’s sister, made a statement in which she stated that she had attempted to go on with her life, but that she is still haunted by the killings.

Woodruff decided his only way out was to kill his parents and collect the insurance settlement, according to McFarland.

Where Is Norma Woodruff’s Daughter Now?

Charla Woodruff, the daughter of Norma Woodruff, is currently residing in Texas, The United States.

Dennis and Norma’s daughter, Charla, told her mom and dad on the night of October 16, 2005, but received no reply. She quickly averted her entire family, who were unable to communicate with the pair as well.

The following day, police conducted a welfare check but opted not to enter the residence. As a result, the bodies were found only after Todd Williams, Charla’s aunt, broke into the home.

As per the source, Charla was attending Southern Arkansas University and was with her pal Matthews on the night of the murder of her parents.
