Jacob Blair Scott guilty on 14 counts of sex crimes against a child, sentenced to 85 years in prison. Let’s find out in detail about the fake death charge of the military veteran from Jackson County, MS.

A man who allegedly faked his own death in 2018 to avoid rape charges in Jackson County has been handed his sentence.

Jacob Blair Scott has been on trial this week facing 14 counts of child sex crimes involving a 14-year-old girl he eventually impregnated. Today, a jury found him guilty on all 14 counts. He has been sentenced to 85 years in prison without the possibility of parole.

Getting Scott to trial has been a long, winding road. In 2018, just days before he was set to plead guilty, Scott vanished. Authorities say Scott – who previously went by the alias Lucas Marty Walding – tried to make it look like he committed suicide.

According to wapt.com, Jacob Blair Scott was sentenced to 85 years in jail for faking his suicide to avoid the criminal charges of raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter.

Scott’s stepdaughter said Scott sexually assaulted her at least 30 times before she became pregnant in 2016. Between March 2016 and February 2017, she said the alleged sexual assaults happened a few times a week.

If a jury convicts Scott on nine charges of sexual battery, four counts of touching a minor for lustful reasons, and one act of child exploitation, Jacob Blair Scott may face life in prison.

District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath and Assistant District Attorney Justin Lovorn rested their case after the girl, and another witness testified.

Later in the day on Wednesday, Scott testified, admitting to having intercourse with the girl and fathering her child.
