Antonio Devon Bishop was 25 years old when he was killed by his girlfriend’s ex-lover, Duane Tyreese Hatch.
Duane Tyreese Hatch, 29, pleaded guilty Tuesday, April 12, one count each of second-degree murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm and unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon in connection with the shooting death of Antonio Devon Bishop, 24.
The shooting occurred at about 11 p.m., July 29, inside the Villas Apartment complex located off Golfside Road in Ypsilanti Township, court records show.
During his preliminary examination, prosecutors argued Hatch forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment building, strangled her in a common area then shot Bishop when he exited her apartment coming to help.
After shooting Bishop once, he looked at his ex-girlfriend, smiled then shot him 16 more times as he was bleeding on the floor, Hatch’s ex-girlfriend testified in court.
