LAPD bodycam footage of penthouse 3 released to court

Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for libel in the US state of Virginia over a 2018 article she wrote for the Washington Post.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star is suing Heard for $50 million. It comes after she referenced herself in the article as a “public figure representing domestic abuse”. The article did not mention Depp by name. Heard is countersuing Depp for $100 million claiming he defamed her when his legal team referred to her claims as “fake” and a “sexual violence hoax.”

On April 27, the court was shown LAPD bodycam footage dating back to May 2016 at Depp’s third penthouse.

The body camera footage shows LAPD officer William Gatlin and his partner knocking on the door for access, The Independent reports.

The same publication states that Gatlin wasn’t aware, at the time, that it was Depp’s home that he was visiting. The actor was not inside the property at the time of the officer’s visit.
