The California man, whose identity has not been released, is in his 20s and was armed with a gun and a knife, according to a law enforcement official.
He arrived in a taxi early in the morning and told law enforcement officers he wanted to kill Kavanaugh, the official said.
As told by Supreme Court spokesperson Patricia McCabe, the criminal was transported to Montgomery County Police 2nd District. According to the reports, he had made killing threats against Justice Brett Kavanaugh and had planned to harm Brett with gunfire.
Fortunately, before anything bad happened, the California man was eventually detained by the police outside the justice’s suburban Maryland residence at 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday, thus stopping him from physically harming the judge.
The Supreme Court building has been surrounded by high black fencing since the leak of that decision, which court officials said was authentic but a preliminary draft that did not necessarily represent the final decision.
The leak of the document triggered protests in Washington and other cities by abortion rights supporters.
