The Ocala Police Department has announced a $20,000 reward for anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of a man accused of shooting and killing another man inside Ocala Paddock Mall.

On December 23, 2023, a shooting occurred at Paddock Mall in Ocala, Florida, resulting in the death of a man and the injury of a woman. The incident was described as a “targeted act of violence” against the man.

A man – later identified as 40-year-old David Nathaniel Barron – was found dead inside the mall. A woman was found with a gunshot wound to her leg and taken to the hospital with what police described as a non-life-threatening injury.

David Nathaniel Barron was killed after being shot multiple times. Several other mall patrons experienced injuries, including chest pain and a broken arm.

The suspect, Albert Shell, remains at large, and the reward for information leading to his arrest has increased to $20,000.

Ocala Police Chief Mike Balken provided updates on the investigation during a news conference. A crisis response team also met with witnesses of the shooting to provide trauma resources

The reward was originally set at $5,000 before being doubled earlier last week. Now, police are offering anyone who provides information regarding the whereabouts of the alleged shooter $15,000.
