John Roemer Wikipedia Biography

John Roemer was a judge who was first elected to Juneau County Circuit Court in 2004. He was reelected in 2010 and 2016 but left in August 2017, mentioning his wife’s declining health. Roemer was one of Juneau County’s two assistant district attorneys before being selected to the bench in 2004, beating his former boss, Judge Dennis C. Schuh.

John Roemer was 68 years old at the time of his demise. As for his education, Roemer attended the Hamline University Law School, and he graduated in the year 1980. And Roemer also served as an assistant state public defender in Baraboo for five years.

 

Besides that, he was also a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring in November 2002. And now, Romer’s death news is all over the media as he was reportedly killed by a man named Douglas K Uhde, who was also reported to be in a critical condition.

Besides, the retired judge was known by colleagues for his brilliant legal mind and his willingness to share his time and to learn with others. Currently, the whole nation is mourning the death of Roemer, who was shot and killed in his own house in New Lisbon.

Retired Judge John Roemer Killed In Wisconsin

John Roemer was a retired judge who was shot and killed in his New Lisbon home on Friday. Authorities reported that Roemer was found dead with another man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the basement. 

The man is identified as Douglas K Uhde, and he was the one who killed Roemer. Officers tried life-saving efforts on the man, and he was transferred to a medical facility where he remains in crucial condition. Reportedly, Roemer had sentenced Uhde to six years of jail on a burglary charge in 2005.

Douglas K Uhde is a suspected gunman accused of fatally shooting a retired county judge, John Roemer, at a Wisconsin home. But Uhde has not been charged yet.

The 56-years-old man was located in the home’s basement with self-inflicted gunshot damage, following shots by police to bargain with him.

The caller had exited the home and contacted law enforcement from a nearby home.

The Juneau County Special Tactics and Response Team responded and attempted to negotiate with the alleged shooter before entering the home. Inside, they found the homeowner, a 68-year-old man, dead, and a 56-year-old man in the basement suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Kaul said.

The suspect,  Douglas Uhde, was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, Kaul said. A firearm was recovered at the scene, he said.

But investigators think Uhde also may have planned to target other government officials and discovered a list in his car that had the names of several other main selected leaders. His list also included Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers.
