Finlay Macdonald in court charged with attempted murder of his wife attempted murder on his wife, Rowena Macdonald after firearms incident on Skye.

The 39-year-old Finlay Macdonald has appeared in court charged with murder as well as the attempted murder of his wife and two other people following a series of firearm incidents in northwest Scotland.

He killed his brother-in-law with a gunshot and injured two other people. He has been arrested and remains detained in jail.

Finlay MacDonald, from Skye, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court on Friday and did not enter a plea.

MacDonald was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

Officers were called to a property in the Tarskavaig area of Skye shortly before 9am on Wednesday, where a 32-year-old woman was found with serious injuries and taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow.

The woman was identified as Rowena MacDonald. She was rushed to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment after suffering serious injuries.

After some time, officers again responded to a property in the Dornie neighborhood of Wester Ross after additional reports of a second handgun being discharged at home were heard. The victims have been identified as well-known osteopath John Don Mackenzie and his wife, Fay.

Another man, 63, was taken to hospital and was in a “critical” condition on Thursday.

The injuries of the 32-year-old woman, named locally as Rowena MacDonald, have been described as “serious”.

A 63-year-old woman was taken to Broadford Hospital in Skye and released after treatment.

Ian Blackford, MP for Ross, Skye and Lochaber, said the events have “shocked the place to the core”

Besides, Finlay’s wife, Rowena, is still in the hospital. Her condition is not known, but she has not died yet. It was Finlay’s brother-in-law who he murdered.

Finlay Macdonald Arrest Charges

Finlay MacDonald, the husband of Rowena MacDonald was arrested in connection with the murder of MacKinnon and the attempted murders of three other victims. He was transported to Raigmore Hospital after being caught.

Since then, he has been accused of being involved in both the attempted murders of the other three victims as well as the murder of Mr. MacKinnon. He appeared in Inverness Sheriff Court on Friday and was charged with one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder.

But, he did not plead guilty and was remanded in detention and committed for further examination. He will appear in court in the next eight days. Moreover, there is no application for bail.

Finlay Macdonald Went On Shooting Rampage

He also faces a charge of assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement and attempted murder.

Finlay Macdonald shot and killed his brother-in-law on August 10, 2022. The reason behind the murder is not disclosed yet.

But, he seriously injured three other people. In addition, he stabbed his wife and shot two other people. The shooting rampage has left the community in shock.

They described the deceased victim as a kind-hearted and a loved man. People from the community said the incidents they witnessed yesterday were shocking, and it has seriously impacted everyone’s life.
