Abi Fisher Missing Case Update: Matthew Fisher Arrest & Trial For The Murder Of Teacher

Matthew Fisher, 29, appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court accused of murdering 29-year-old Abi Fisher after her body was found in undergrowth following her disappearance.

A husband has appeared in court today charged with the murder of his wife just six months after they had a baby girl following IVF treatments.

Matthew Fisher, 29, is accused of murdering Abi Fisher, also 29, after police found her body was found in undergrowth following her disappearance.

Dressed in a prison issue grey jumper and jogging bottoms and wearing a face mask, he spoke only to confirm his name, age and address at Leeds Magistrates Court.

He was not asked to enter a plea during the brief hearing and will appear before Leeds Crown Court tomorrow.

Members of Abi’s heartbroken family were present for the hearing and wept as District Judge Charlotte Holland told Fisher: “This case is too serious to run in this court.

Abi Fisher went missing from her home in Castleford, West Yorkshire, over the weekend. Her absence was characterized as unusual, and on an official absence, her family members filed an official missing case Police Department.

The body of the Castleford resident was discovered in undergrowth off Southmoor Road in Brierley, South Yorkshire, on Monday, July 11.

According to her family members, the schoolteacher did not inform anybody where she was heading when she left.

The 29-year-old missing woman was a teacher at Featherstone All Saints CE Academy. She was a science enthusiast who inspired numerous youngsters throughout the years and made a difference in many people’s lives.

The 29-year-old husband of Abi is presently in police custody after the dead body was discovered in the woods of Southmoor Road in Brierley, South Yorkshire after she went missing.

The alleged culprit has been married to teacher Abi for a long time and is the father of a child. He lives in Walton Park Street, Castleford, with his family.

The police spokeswoman of West Yorkshire Police (WYP) has given the official statement, “Matthew Fisher, 29, of Walton Park Street, Castleford, has been charged with murder.”

The hearing of the murder case of schoolteacher Abi Fisher was scheduled at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on July 13.

The culprit did not enter a plea when he stood in court at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning. The matter of the case is sent further to the Crown Court.

The “devastated” primary school where Abi worked had closed its doors for a day while the staff and pupils coped with their grief, YorkshireLive reported.

Matthew Jones , the headteacher at Featherstone All Saints CofE Academy, described Abi as “enthusiastic” and “caring” as he opened up about how “devastated” his cohort is feeling.
