A 16-year-old boy was critically injured after being shot in Atlanta’s Collier Heights neighborhood on January 24, 2024 and is in critical condition, the Atlanta Police Department said. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. and homicide detectives were called to investigate the scene.
The victim was found with a critical gunshot wound and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. As of January 27, 2024, the victim was still fighting for his life.
APD said it happened at a location on Oldknow Drive. The department said officers responded to the location around 2 a.m. and found the 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound and “not alert, conscious or breathing.”
APD said he was “transported to the hospital in critical condition.” There was no update on the boy’s condition when the department posted its update Friday afternoon.
“Detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene to investigate the circumstances of the incident. The investigation continues,” a police statement said.
